Cliff Hamner Awarded IREM Chapter 105's CPM of the Year Award
Award recipient recognized for contributions to local and nation Chapter and real estate industry


RALEIGH, NC, February 07, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cliff Hamner, CPM, Regional Property Manager for Weingarten Realty in Raleigh, has been awarded CPM of the Year by the Greater Raleigh-Durham Chapter 105 of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). Hamner was presented his award at the Chapter's Annual Officer Installation Meeting.

CPM stands for Certified Property Manager, a real estate professional designation that is awarded by IREM and recognized by the National Association of REALTORS (NAR). To attain a CPM designation, candidates must join IREM, as well as their local IREM Chapter. They must also pass several IREM-required courses including marketing, human resources, asset management, and ethics and complete a management plan on a subject building.

Hamner manages a portfolio of shopping centers and industrial properties in Raleigh and Virginia for Weingarten Realty. He served as the 2008 President of the Greater Raleigh-Durham Chapter and received his award based on his dedication and commitment to his profession, the real estate industry, and the local IREM Chapter. During his one-year term, Hamner led the chapter's first Friends of IREM tradeshow, helped IREM celebrate their 75th anniversary, sent more members to national conferences, and led the chapter in recognizing the value of an ARM (Accredited Residential Manager) and CPM during uncertain economic times.

Bob Dascombe, Sr. VP for Martin Properties, is head of the chapter's CPM/Candidate of Year Committee and has been involved with IREM since the early 90's. He received his CPM in 1995 and was himself a recipient of the CPM of the Year Award in 2000. Dascombe says that Hamner's attitude, disposition, and service to the industry made him an ideal candidate for CPM of the Year.

"Cliff has contributed to the success of Chapter #105 in many ways," explains Dascombe. "Over his many years of service, he has led the chapter in a positive and gentle manner that motivates fellow chapter leaders and produces excellent results."

Hamner says that he is grateful for the personal and professional opportunities that his IREM membership has provided him and that by taking the extensive education and becoming a member of IREM, it has raised his knowledge of industry standards and improved his management of real estate assets.
