Justin Kramon to Host Free Raleigh Writers Workshop on 2/24
Debut novelist Justin Kramon will conduct a workshop in Raleigh on February 24th designed to provide resources for writers trying to publish their short stories, find an agent, or place a novel with a publisher.
CARY, NC, February 12, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Finding a Literary Agent
An award-winning writer and Iowa Writers' Workshop alumnus, Kramon's work has appeared in places such as Glimmer Train and Fence. He is the author of the highly praised coming-of-age novel, Finny (Random House, 2010). It took an embarrassing number of attempts to find the publisher for Kramon's novel, so he thought it might be helpful to other writers to compile some of the resources he drew from to get Random House to take pity on him. Kramon said, "While I was writing Finny I often wished that all of this information were gathered in one place, so I've structured this seminar in order to convey concrete and specific information, such as lists of agents and places to submit fiction, and will also share examples from my own successes and failures in publishing, such as the query letter I sent to my current agent."
Seminar For Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill Writers
The workshop is co-organized by the Triangle Writers Group, a collection of Raleigh-Durham novelists, screenwriters and memoirists. Kramon's workshop will be held at Quail Ridge Books, 3522 Wade Avenue in Raleigh on Thursday, February 24th from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. The event is free and open to the public. Writers are encouraged to bring questions about the publishing process. Kramon will also sign copies of his novel, which will be available for sale at the special rate of $10.00 (standard retail price is $15.00).
