Melanie Dubis Receives 2011 Women In Business Award
Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP Partner Honored By Triangle Business Journal

RALEIGH, NC, September 01, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melanie Black Dubis, a partner at Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, has been named by Triangle Business Journal as a recipient of the 2011 Women in Business Award, which honors area women who have proven to be dynamic and outstanding leaders with established track records of significant accomplishments in business and/or community service. Award recipients were honored at an Aug. 25 event at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, N.C. Dubis has been recognized as one of the state's top business litigators, as well as an advocate for numerous nonprofits throughout the community. She is an active member of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, serving on both the communications and education committees. Dubis also serves as pro bono general counsel for Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Carolina Ballet, Inc. and on several committees of the North Carolina and Wake County Bar Associations.

Melanie Black Dubis, a partner at Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, handles commercial disputes for clients in North Carolina state and federal courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and arbitration proceedings. A Phi Beta Kappa, Dubis was a John W. Wade Scholar at Vanderbilt University Law School, earning her JD in 1995 after earning a B.A. with honors from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. While at Vanderbilt University, she was the senior student writing editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review.
