Groundbreaking Management Book Identifies the "Auto-Self"
Barry Borgerson, Ph.D., Introduces the Next Frontier in Human Transformation

RALEIGH, NC, October 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Are you a business manager with the education, experience and knowledge to excel, but have consistently found success eluding you? Do you fail to get the most out of people who report to you? Do you often wonder why you were passed over for that promotion? Are you an individual with unhealthy habits who has tried every imaginable self-help program with little or no success? Are your New Year's resolutions over by March?

If so, Barry Borgerson, Ph.D., may have the answer for you. In his groundbreaking new book titled "The Auto-Self: The Key to Creating Star Performers and to Becoming a Star Yourself," Dr. Borgerson introduces readers to the next frontier in human transformation and how it can tap into the professional and personal potential that can escape so many.

Dr. Borgerson, who led the transformation and growth of several well-known companies throughout his heralded career, explains that the human mind contains two very different "selfs": a thinking-self and an auto-self, both of which play a key role in all facets of human behavior.

"Despite academic and psychiatric indicators to the contrary, the prevailing view of the mind is that it is one-dimensional," said Dr. Borgerson. "This assumption creates significant barriers to individual and organizational achievement, as it ignores the second dimension of normal human activity that has a direct impact on our successes. Humans have two-dimensional minds, and those who understand both dimensions — and how to tap into each — will arm themselves with the tools to reach previously unattainable success in their professional and personal lives."

According to Dr. Borgerson, the two dimensions of the human mind are defined as:
• When we operate in our cognitive, thinking, knowledgeable mode, our thinking-self controls our activities.
• When we display involuntary behaviors, or when paradigms or cultures constrain our thoughts and understanding, our auto-self controls us.

"These two 'selfs' often work cooperatively, but all too often they compete for control of our actions," explains Dr. Borgerson. "Most management training or self-help programs focus exclusively on the thinking-self. However, those who understand and conquer their auto-self will be able to win the 'unfair fight,' when the thinking-self simply tries to overpower the auto-self. Conquering the auto-self often leads to a level of success that many have long sought but have never been able to achieve."

Business leaders who implement the auto-self transformation process are more likely to:
• Elevate the performance of people who report to them beyond what they and those believe is possible
• Align action with goals
• Recognize and stop displaying behaviors that have a negative effect on others
• Lead and inspire others at work, in the community, and at home
• Overcome limiting beliefs about their potential
• Achieve those elusive New Year's resolutions
• Create healthy habits

According to Dr. Borgerson, "The Auto-Self: The Key to Creating Star Performers and to Becoming a Star Yourself," was written to help those in their management careers, but can also have a profound effect on anyone looking to improve their personal lives. Initial feedback from the business community has been positive.
• "All leaders from CEOs to supervisors will benefit from using the habit-change processes in this book," said Shelley Riebel, president and strategic performance consultant, MBC Training and Development, Inc. "It is the surest way to maximize the performance of your team members."

• "Using techniques presented in this book, Barry, and coaches he trained, transformed myself and other leaders in our company to curtail undesired behaviors and overcome barriers to achieve at much higher levels," said Michael P. Williams II, president and CEO, Cadillac Products Automotive Company. "These transformations have made a significant contribution to our profitable growth."

Many have also sung the book's praises for the effect it has had on their personal lives.
• "If you ever wonder why you do (or don't do) certain things, read this book," said Karin S. Wiberg, chief strategist, Clear Sight Consulting, LLC. "It will change your life!"
• "The auto-self opened my eyes to a unique way to perceive my goal-seeking self," said Ray Matthews, author.
